Former Wolves captain Conor Coady has left Wrexham by mutual consent and is now a free agent, according to ExpressAndStar.com. The decision comes with Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline looming.

The 33-year-old joined from Leicester City last summer for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around £2 million. Opportunities were scarce at the Hollywood-owned club.

Coady made just six appearances in all competitions last season. He spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Charlton Athletic, helping them retain their Championship status.

He returned to the Racecourse Ground with 12 months left on his deal but was not named in any matchday squad this season.

His departure coincides with Wrexham closing in on a deal to sign Burnley centre-back Joe Worrall.
