Corinthians have extended Diego Palacios’s loan, with the left-back leaving Karpaty for Ecuador’s Universidad Católica until the end of 2026, the club said in a statement. The move is projected to cut the payroll by R$ 2.6 million.
It is estimated the Ecuadorian club will pay around R$ 236,000 per month for the deal, meaning Corinthians are still expected to cover part of his wages.
Palacios will compete with Eddy Mejía and Eric Valencia for a starting place.
Signed in 2024 as first-choice at left-back, the Ecuador international endured a series of left-knee injuries that even sparked a crisis in the medical department. He has played only four matches in two years at the club.
In August last year he joined Karpaty in Ukraine on loan but again struggled for minutes, making two appearances in six months. He has been out of the matchday squad since October.
