Corinthians confirm Zakaria Labyad renewal until 2027 | OneFootball

Corinthians have confirmed the renewal of Zakaria Labyad’s contract, which now runs until 31 December 2027, the club said in a statement.

The update was recorded in the CBF’s BID on Monday night. Signed in February, the No 52 has made 18 appearances, scoring two and supplying two assists, with three starts.

Labyad suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and a meniscus injury in his left knee during the 0-0 draw with Athletico-PR at Neo Química Arena on 30 July, in the 21st round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. He has undergone surgery and has been in rehabilitation since.

Corinthians would have been legally obliged to maintain his deal until the end of treatment, but chose to extend through next year. Brazilian legislation guarantees job stability and salaries for athletes injured in workplace accidents until they return to duty.

Before the setback, his continuity depended on performance clauses, with an automatic extension if he met undisclosed sporting targets.

In his absence, Fernando Diniz lacks a direct back-up for Rodrigo Garro, the only attacking midfielder in the current squad. Breno Bidon has occasionally been used higher up to cover. Labyad is projected to return only in February 2027.
