Colombian international is set for a reunion with former manager

Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Crystal Palace wing-back Daniel Munoz.

Standard Sport understands the two clubs have reached a full agreement, with Forest set to pay a fee believed to be in the region of £22million.

The Colombian named on the bench as Palace lost 4-1 at home to Manchester City on Friday evening, where he was an unused substitute by Pierre Sage.

Oliver Glasner, whose side claimed a 2-2 draw away to Liverpool in the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon, has been keen to reunite with Munoz after the pair enjoyed a successful two-and-a-half-year spell at Palace.

The wing-back was an integral part of the Palace side that won the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League in successive seasons under Glasner, who left Selhurst Park in the summer.

But following the Austrian’s departure, leaving upon the expiry of his contract in June, Munoz’s future had been cast into doubt.

The Eagles moved to sign Munoz’s replacement earlier this summer, bringing in Israeli international Anan Khalaili from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise for a fee in the region of £21m.

Khalaili made his full Palace debut against City, starting in Munoz’s stead at right wing-back in Sage’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

While Munoz is expected to leave, Palace are determined to keep hold of winger Ismaila Sarr amid interest from Liverpool.

The Reds have made checks on the Senegal international but have as yet not entered formal club-to-club talks.

Striker Jean-Philippe Mateta had been angling for a move away but now looks set to stay after being ruled out for up to a month with a hamstring injury.
