Daryl Dike’s four and a half year stay at West Brom could have ended with Saturday’s final game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday, with his contract due to expire this summer.
The player said in a post that this had been a difficult campaign and thanked Albion supporters for their backing, signing off with “Onto the next”, a phrase that did not close the door on his Albion future.
Dike has been troubled by injuries since his home debut, including two major Achilles problems that kept him out for almost two years in total.
He returned this season to make 25 appearances, only the second time he has hit that mark since joining. He scored important goals against Preston and Watford and contributed to Albion’s Championship survival.
James Morrison has been coy on the futures of West Brom’s out-of-contract players. A final decision has yet to be confirmed, with the club expected to publish their retained and released list soon.
