Diego González has questioned Valencia’s decision to let Rubo Iranzo leave, saying the centre-back has made an immediate impact at Zaragoza and fitted in alongside him.

"I feel very good. He has incredible physical and technical qualities. For me, Valencia have made a mistake. It is a blessing for us to have him. He has the capacity to play at elite level in the coming years," he told Sport Aragón.

"We have clicked very well from the start. He is very quick, although tactically I may be a little more organised than him. I think we will help one another and make each other better," he added.

Iranzo left Valencia this summer after spending the past two seasons outside Carlos Corberán’s plans, and had few chances to show whether he could secure a regular first-team place despite progressing through the academy.

Valencia allowed his exit without a fee, but retained 25% of any future sale and a right of first refusal, terms that could gain value if his progress in Zaragoza continues.

After his debut, head coach Ibai Gómez said: "Those who played today showed they are players from another level. With Rubo it will be a matter of time before he costs a lot of money because he has impressive qualities".
