Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s late header earned Leeds United a draw at Brentford after Jordan Henderson had put the hosts ahead, with the striker reflecting on resilience and missed opportunity.

“I think in the end it’s a point gain, but I think three points were there for the taking, definitely.” He told Sky Sports.

“We hung in there first half, we didn’t really give them too much to go off, so second half, we wanted to start on the front foot, and I thought that we did that.”

“Going a goal behind is frustrating, but I think in recent weeks we’ve shown good resilience, good character to come back into games.”

Willy Gnonto again made a telling contribution from the bench as Leeds pressed for the equaliser.

Despite Brentford enjoying 57% possession to Leeds’ 43%, the visitors had 18 shots to seven, created two big chances to one, and posted an xG of 1.43 to 0.71.

It was only the second time Leeds have avoided defeat away this season, the result lifting them to three away points and opening a three-point cushion to the Premier League relegation zone.
