Everton sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon in €3.5m Deadline Day deal | OneFootball

Everton have signed Lyon full-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles, 29, in a €3.5m Deadline Day deal, both clubs confirmed.

The former England international can operate at full-back and in midfield, offering Everton extra versatility ahead of the new season. He was in the final year of his Lyon contract.

David Moyes has used midfielder Merlin Röhl at right-back in Everton’s first two Premier League matches.

Maitland-Niles joined Lyon permanently in 2023 after an initial loan from Arsenal, and went on to make 79 appearances in all competitions.

He was the only Ligue 1 arrival at Everton on Deadline Day after USMNT striker Folarin Balogun’s proposed move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium fell through late on.

Maitland-Niles could make his debut at home against Manchester United.
