The experienced figure has now landed a job as part of the England setup

Just days after terminating his contract with Championship outfit Wrexham, experienced defender Conor Coady has landed a major new coaching role.

Indeed, it has been confirmed by the Football Association that, as part of a major staff reshuffle, the 33-year-old will link up with Lee Carsley to be a part of the England Under-21s coaching setup, whilst also being joined in said role by former Derby County midfielder, Paul Williams.

Coady has enjoyed an extensive career in the Premier League and EFL, with his most notable times coming with Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are now back in the Championship for the first time since Coady was part of their title-winning squad under Nuno Espírito Santo in the 2017/18 season.

Meanwhile, his most recent employers remain amongst the most ambitious sides in the EFL under the well-documented ownership of Canadian and American acting duo, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Wrexham had signed seven new players throughout the summer transfer window as they look to challenge for promotion yet again under Phil Parkinson, but another major talking point late in the window was the release of Coady.

Coady made just six appearances for the Red Dragons after signing from Leicester City for £2m last August following the Foxes' relegation from the Premier League, before spending the second half of last season on loan with relegation-threatened Charlton Athletic.

The Liverpool academy graduate has over 300 appearances in the top two divisions of English football, and most notably, during his time as Wolves captain, made his England debut under Gareth Southgate, eventually playing 10 times for the Three Lions whilst scoring one goal in the process.

As such, he has now landed a coaching role alongside former Birmingham City ace, Carsley, and the aforementioned Williams after Ashley Cole decided to step away from his role as assistant coach.

The England Under-21s are hoping to qualify and win the UEFA European Under-21s Championship for a third successive time next summer, having defeated Spain and Germany in the past two tournaments which were held in Georgia and Slovakia.

The new role at St George's Park isn't the only major development which has surrounded Coady following his swift exit from the North Wales club.

It was revealed earlier in the week that the St Helens-born man was working with Liverpool's own Under-21s squad alongside former Anfield teammate, Jay Spearing, although he also stated that he is still on the lookout for a new club.

"I came through there. I'm doing a little bit of coaching with the boys, which has been brilliant," said Coady.

"That's what it's looking like at the minute. I'm obviously speaking to my agent about different bits that are going on.

"I'm not massively in a rush because I want to make sure it's right," he explained.

Later this month, Carsley will announce his first squad which Coady will be a part of, and it is fair to say that whoever is selected in defence will benefit from the defender's vast experience at various levels.

The first fixture he will also oversee as part of the setup will also have added significance, as the Young Lions host Kazakhstan at Molineux on Friday, September 25th.
