It’s a trip to Bristol City on Thursday night for Leeds United Under-18s, who begin their FA Youth Cup campaign with action from Robins High Performance Centre getting underway at 7:00pm.
The prestigious tournament was a memorable one for Rob Etherington’s young Whites two seasons ago, when the side reached the final at the Etihad Stadium, backed by over 6,500 travelling supporters, against Manchester City. Last season, the run was once more ended by the Sky Blues, this time in the fifth round.
In that 2023-24 run, Leeds picked up memorable victories against the likes of Norwich City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield United and Liverpool.
Last time out in the league, United lost 2-1 away to Nottingham Forest with Jack Morris netting, which marked a first defeat in the U18 Premier League since September. Leeds currently sit 8th in the league with 15 points from 11 matches played.
The Robins will likely offer a stern test for United, having beaten Everton and Wolves earlier this season in the Premier League U18 Cup. In their last four matches, however, City have lost three and a -12 goal differential in that run.
