Argentine forward Facundo Colidio, 26, landed at Galeão on Friday to undergo medicals and sign for Vasco until the end of 2029. The club are paying US$ 4.5 million to River Plate for 50% of his rights, with a further 50% available for US$ 5 million if targets are met.
Speaking at the airport, Colidio said he has high expectations, arrives in good shape from a big club and wants to get back to the highest level. He thanked fans for their online support, adding that he knows the size of the club and hopes to bring plenty of joy.
Vasco had tracked Colidio for months, accelerating talks during football director Admar Lopes’s trip to Argentina. In Buenos Aires to progress the arrival of midfielder Santiago Sosa from Racing, he also moved to close the forward’s signing.
Comfortable across the front line, he can operate centrally, as a second striker or off the left, and is quick in one v one situations. He came through Inter Milan’s academy, then played for Sint-Truiden and Tigre before joining River Plate in 2023, scoring five goals with three assists in 2026.
Vasco’s coaching staff, led by Pedro Emanuel, will integrate him into training at CT Moacyr Barbosa once medicals are cleared. The club are working to complete CBF registration so he can be available for league and cup fixtures this semester. Supporters followed his arrival at the airport as the club moves to finalise formalities.
