FC Porto omit Gabriel Mec and Prpic from Champions League league phase list | OneFootball

FC Porto have left Gabriel Mec and Prpic out of their first Champions League league phase squad submitted to UEFA.

According to O Jogo, the list had to be filed by 23:59 on Wednesday and the club exceeded its foreign-player allowance after the recent arrivals of Gimenez, Souza and Gabriel Mec. UEFA permits 17 non-homegrown players plus eight homegrown, including at least four club-trained, so two squad members had to miss out.

Francesco Farioli excluded Mec, who has just joined from Brazilian football and now faces an adaptation period to a new level and demands.

The other omission was Prpic, who was used sparingly last season and whose prospects are unchanged. Bednarek, Kiwior and Nehuén Pérez are the specialist centre-backs, with Pablo Rosario also able to cover.

Injured pair Zaidu and Samu have been included on the list.
