Niclas Füllkrug said he is not expecting a call after being omitted from Jürgen Klopp’s first Germany squad of 44 for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, insisting he does not need any calls.

The Werder Bremen striker spoke after Saturday’s 3-2 win over Augsburg, where he scored for the third match in a row.

“I’m not expecting a call at all. I don’t need any calls,” Füllkrug told Sky Germany.

“I play here for Werder. That’s the most important thing for me. Everything else is out of my hands.”

“With the national team coach, it’s certainly the same as with me: You can impress him and put pressure on him with your performances,” Werder head coach Daniel Thioune said. “If Fülle continues to perform like this, then he’ll certainly remain in the national team’s wider circle of candidates.”

Füllkrug has scored 14 goals in 24 appearances for Germany. His last cap came in June 2025, a 2-0 defeat to France in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off.
