Jamal Musiala can count on Jürgen Klopp’s full support upon his return to the field. Following Musiala’s recent health issues, the German national team coach personally reached out to the Bayern star and, above all, put his mind at ease regarding one major concern: his situation will not have any negative impact on his future with the German national team.

There had recently been reports that Klopp had spoken with Musiala on the phone. In an interview with Sky, the DFB coach has now clarified exactly how the contact actually took place.

“We didn’t talk on the phone. I sent him a voice message. He doesn’t know me at all and doesn’t have my number. I think if I had called him, he wouldn’t have answered for three days because he wouldn’t have recognized my number. He replied to the message,” Klopp explained.

For the 59-year-old, Musiala’s athletic prospects aren’t the main focus right now anyway. The only thing that matters is that the 23-year-old makes a full recovery.

Klopp makes an important promise to Musiala

“He’s in a situation you wouldn’t wish on anyone, especially not a young man like him. But everything should turn out well—everyone agrees on that,” Klopp emphasized.

At the same time, the national team coach made it clear what message he wanted to convey to Musiala with his voice message: “I assured him that this won’t have any impact on the national team. That’s all I can do for him.”

In doing so, Klopp is taking all the pressure off the Bayern star with regard to the DFB squad. Musiala should be able to focus exclusively on getting his health back on track.

It’s particularly disappointing: After his long injury layoff, the attacking player was apparently just getting back to top physical form.

Klopp revealed that he had also discussed this with Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. “Vincent Kompany confirmed to me that he was in incredible shape. After the metal plate and screws were removed, he was back to his old self—or even better. Now this has happened for reasons we’re all aware of.”

“Son, just focus on getting healthy first.”

Above all, Klopp warns Musiala against trying to rush his comeback. “The important thing now is that he’s given the time he needs—and that he allows himself that time.”

Patience is crucial in such a situation, especially for young pros. “Young players usually don’t have any problems, aside from the fact that they get impatient, and of course you can’t afford to be impatient during a phase like this,” explained the national team coach.

At the same time, the DFB coach is convinced that Musiala will find the best possible conditions for his return at FC Bayern: “He’s at the perfect club, in the perfect environment for this, and we also want to do our part.”

In closing, Klopp reiterated his most important message to the Bayern star: “And we’re telling him: ‘Kid, get healthy first, and then the door is open for you.’”

This means there is absolutely no time pressure on Musiala from the national team coach. When the 23-year-old will be able to play for the national team again is currently of secondary importance to Klopp. What matters most is that Musiala returns fully healthy.
