Flamengo have released forwards Gonzalo Plata and Wallace Yan to pursue transfers and they skipped training at Ninho do Urubu, the club said in a statement. Both players have already said their goodbyes to team-mates.
Plata is bound for Dynamo Moscow and is expected to fly to Russia on Saturday to complete the move. He and Botafogo forward Matheus Martins, also joining the same club, will miss Sunday’s clássico at the Maracanã.
The fee for Plata has not been made public. Flamengo had hoped to keep the Ecuadorian, a starter for Leonardo Jardim, but his representatives pushed for improved terms after the World Cup or a sale. He was sounded out by Mexican sides but favoured Europe.
Wallace Yan, 21, is expected to complete a switch to Bragantino and play for the Massa Bruta in the second half of the year. The deal is for 6 million euros for 70 percent of his rights, plus a Bragantino academy player moving to Flamengo.
The clubs nearly agreed a 10 million euro transfer in January, but talks fell through over payment terms. Promoted by Filipe Luís in 2024, Wallace Yan made 33 appearances last year, scoring seven with four assists. He was part of the squads that won the Libertadores and the Brasileiro, and travelled to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup.
