Chiefs coach reckons they approached Soweto derby with fear

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze says his team showed a lot of fear and hesitation in their Soweto derby drubbing to bitter rivals Orlando Pirates over the weekend.
The Glamour Boys conceded three unanswered goals, subsequently dropping to fifth on the Betway Premiership table with 30 points from 17 league outings.
Reflecting on the mauling, Kaze acknowledged his charges didn't show the grit and desire required for a derby, noting that Chiefs showed their nemesis too much respect instead.
“I would say that in the first half I didn't see much of it. I saw a lot of hesitation, I saw a lot of fear into pressing high, pressing by going forward, I saw a lot of hesitation into our decision making when we had the ball,” he said.
"I saw a lot of fear into how we want to approach in the 50/50 balls, but it's something that we need to address and we need to find solutions going forward.
The CAF A License holder made an honest admission about the team's recent poor form, calling for more leaders in the dressing room.
“In football there is no many ways to fix things, it's only to go back to work, to give confidence to the players, to show them what has worked before and I think three weeks ago we were on a very good run,” Kaze added.
"But the last three weeks I would say that we are starting to get into very dangerous moments and we need to pick our heads up, to have as well leaders, players that are leading others, show up and show the way and as well we need to work and to swallow today's [Saturday] pill and go forward.
Chiefs will be eager to swiftly bounce back when they visit Richards Bay in a Betway Premiership clash at a sold-out uMhlathuze Sports Complex on Tuesday (19h30).
