FC Bayern had to do without several players during their away Super Cup match against Borussia Dortmund, including Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl. However, both are set to return soon.
Both have been sidelined for quite some time. Gnabry was injured last season, sustaining a muscle injury in his adductor region. It was a persistent injury that immediately ruled out any chance of him playing in the World Cup this summer.
Although Karl was named to the World Cup roster, a muscle injury—in his thigh—threw a wrench in his plans for participating in the tournament. From the start, the plan for Karl was for him to be back in action for the start of the new Bundesliga season.
According to a report in *kicker*, both players are slowly but surely nearing the finish line when it comes to returning to full team training. For Karl, this could happen a bit sooner than for Gnabry. Both recently trained with the team during the warm-up and then worked out individually afterward.

Lennart Karl is now set to join full team training at some point during the upcoming training week. Incidentally, the same goes for Jamal Musiala, who did not play in the Super Cup. In the coming days, he will rejoin team training and work toward returning to the squad following his recent individual sessions.
Whether one, both, or neither will be ready for Friday’s match against Stuttgart depends on how the training week goes. It will likely take a little longer for Gnabry; he’s expected to resume training with the team in about ten days. That would also suggest he could make a few appearances before the international matches, which begin on September 24.
