Inter and Lazio restructure Frattesi deal after last-minute problem | OneFootball

The latest reports claim that the deal between Inter and Lazio involving central midfielder Davide Frattesi is now back on following fears that the transfer had hit a bureaucratic roadblock on Friday morning.

Frattesi deal back on for Inter and Lazio

Frattesi had been expecting to travel to Rome to have a medical with Lazio on Friday morning ahead of a €15m transfer that would see the Nerazzurri retain a 50% sell-on clause, giving the midfielder an actual valuation of €30m.

However, on Friday morning, as Frattesi was preparing to travel, multiple news outlets in Italy began reporting that an issue relating to Lazio’s finances had emerged and that the deal with Inter had been put on standby.

Further details confirm that the issue related to Lazio’s position with the FIGC liquidity index and their ‘net-zero’ requirement on transfers this summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport and various other outlets in Italy are now reporting that Inter and Lazio have had to restructure the formula of the Frattesi deal in order to comply with FIGC regulations.

Originally, Frattesi had been expected to join Lazio on an initial season-long loan deal at a cost of €1m with a conditional obligation to buy for a further €14m, with the Nerazzurri keeping hold of a 50% sell-on clause.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio will now pay a larger loan fee, which other outlets claim will now be €5m, and it will now be an option to buy rather than an obligation. If Lazio decide to make the move permanent, Inter will still receive a 50% sell-on clause.

The path now appears to have been cleared and Frattesi is still expected to travel to Rome on Friday to complete his Lazio medical.
