Kylian Mbappé has left Nike to join On on a 10-year global ambassador agreement, also becoming a shareholder as the Swiss brand expands into football.
According to L'Équipe, the Real Madrid forward and France captain, aged 27, will help develop football boots and clothing, and the deal’s financial terms have not been disclosed.
His long-standing Nike contract expired on 31 July, and uncertainty lingered over any renewal. Days before France’s next camp, he confirmed a personal split from the American giant and a long-term tie-up with a new market entrant. He said he was drawn by the chance to shape football’s future through innovation while keeping the joy of playing.
Founded in 2010 and known in running for its alveolar soles, On has appointed Thierry Henry as director of football. The 1998 World Cup winner, long associated with Nike, will help shape On Football products and athlete relations.
Mbappé’s collaboration will begin with a boot built on the brand’s LightSpray technology, developed since 2024, which enables glue-free assembly. The approach targets a lighter, more eco-friendly boot with less fabric and waste. While Mbappé could wear On studs soon, no On Football boots or apparel will be sold before 2027.
