Mbappe will become the posterboy for On's bold move into the market, with the brand's first football boots due for release in 2027. It's a massive coup for On, with Mbappe among the most recognisable faces in the sport. The Frenchman is among the 2026 Ballon d'Or favourites after finishing as the top scorer at the 2026 World Cup.

The 27-year-old is joined at On by Thierry Henry, who has taken a role as the company's director of football.

“A bold and original approach” — Thierry Henry and Mbappé team up at On as brand plots audacious move into football boots

"From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow's game,”Mbappe said in a statement.

“I want to bring my experience and perspective into what we create, push what's possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football. We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning."

Henry said On are planning a 'bold and original' approach as the company look to make a name in the football space.

"Building something new in football requires a bold and original approach. Over the past year, I've seen first-hand the curiosity and attention to detail the team at On brings to that process," the Arsenal andPremier League great said.

“We want to listen to players, understand what they need and create something that can genuinely add to the game. I'm proud to be part of shaping what comes next."

Mbappe's exit from Nike is the second major name the American brand have lost, following Lamine Yamal's move to Adidas.
