Lazio sign Albert Gudmundsson on loan from Fiorentina | OneFootball

Lazio have confirmed the signing of Fiorentina attacker Albert Gudmundsson on deadline day, with the Iceland international joining on loan.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the loan carries no fee and the end-of-season option to buy is €11 million.

The 29-year-old became a serious target over the weekend, and a deal was struck after a 48-hour blitz. It was the first move the Aquile announced on Tuesday amid a busy end to the window.

Gudmundsson has been a fixture in Italian football since leaving AZ Alkmaar for Genoa in January 2022, later joining Fiorentina in summer 2024. His spell in Tuscany has been disrupted by injuries and tactical shifts as the club changed managers in recent campaigns.

Naturally a second striker or attacking midfielder, he can also operate on either wing. How he fits under Gennaro Gattuso’s 4-3-3 remains to be seen, and his arrival could allow the coach to turn to his favourite 4-2-3-1.
