Official: Lazio sign Gudmundsson from Fiorentina in €13m package | OneFootball

Lazio have completed the signing of Albert Gudmundsson from Fiorentina on an initial loan, with an option to buy at season's end.

Sky Sport Italia reports the deal is a €1m loan with a €12m option. The 29-year-old underwent a medical in Rome this afternoon and signed after being given the all-clear.

The Iceland international was also courted by Bologna and Atalanta, but he chose the Aquile.

Gudmundsson arrived in Serie A with Genoa in January 2022 from AZ Alkmaar for €1.5m. He later joined Fiorentina on loan in summer 2024 for €5.85m, with an obligation to buy a year later for €16.8m.

That structure reflected an ongoing sexual assault trial in Iceland at the time, as Fiorentina sought guarantees about his future. He has since been cleared in his homeland of all charges.

Meanwhile, Lazio have released Samuel Gigot as a free agent after terminating his contract by mutual consent.
