Leeds United begin their 2026/27 build-up today with Daniel Farke’s pre-Nottingham Forest press conference, ahead of Saturday’s visit to the City Ground, after a frantic midweek of two departures, one arrival and a major renewal.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Joel Piroe has joined West Ham United on a season-long loan, the Championship club holding an obligation to buy if they are promoted. Sebastiaan Bornauw has left for Hamburg with an option to make the move permanent, believed to be worth between three and four million pounds, and there is said to be interest in Lukas Nmecha from an ambitious Championship promotion hopeful.
Nico Elvedi arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach on a permanent deal and signed a three-year contract. The fee is an initial six point eight million pounds, potentially rising to eight point five million pounds. The Swiss international is valued for experience and versatility across a back three, and Farke knows him well from Monchengladbach.
Joe Rodon has penned a new four-year deal to 2030, extending terms that were due to expire in 2028.
Nmecha joined on a free from VfL Wolfsburg last summer and scored seven in 37 for Leeds, including late winners against Everton and Fulham. The 27-year-old has featured regularly in pre-season and, with Piroe already gone, another striker exit seems unlikely.
Leeds still want a top-quality left-sided attacker, plus depth at striker, left-back and goalkeeper, with little noise so far beyond the Elvedi deal.
