Mike McGrath of the Telegraph initially broke the Foxes' links with the former Aston Villa man before Sky Sports - on the publication's Transfer Centre Live Blog (11:03) revealed that Ramsey is expected to join the club on a temporary basis.

Leicester are looking to make several late moves in the summer transfer window in order to sustain an expected first-time promotion bid from the Championship back to the Premier League.

It had been an extremely slow-moving and uncertain transfer window at the King Power Stadium amid continued talk of potential penalties and transfer embargoes, yet on the pitch, Cifuentes' new chargers remain unbeaten after four Championship encounters - a run which continued on Friday night with a solid 2-0 success over Birmingham City in a 'Midlands Derby'.

Ramsey - the brother of recent Newcastle United signing, Jacob - has been on the Clarets' books since August 2023 following the club's promotion to the Premier League, signing under the management of Vincent Kompany from the West Midlands outfit for £12m on a five-year contract.

Since then, the England youth international has made just 19 appearances for the East Lancashire side under the Belgian and current boss, Scott Parker, with his solitary goal for the club coming in last Tuesday's 2-1 victory against Championship outfit, Derby County, in the EFL Cup second round.

Ramsey had endured a nightmare campaign despite Burnley's immediate promotion back to the top-flight, with his aforementioned exploits against the Rams coming in his first start for the club since a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal in February 2024, subsequently being sidelined with a long-term knee issue.

McGrath's aforementioned initial update stated that the 22-year-old had been identified by Leicester as a potential signing, as well as former Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James. Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports then subsequently revealed that the Birmingham-born man is expected to depart Turf Moor on a temporary basis alongside Michael Obafemi, with the move to the King Power set to be confirmed between now and the 7PM transfer deadline.

Aaron Ramsey loan swoop could soften major Leicester City, Bilal El Khannouss transfer blow

Cifuentes made it no secret after Leicester's 2-0 victory over Birmingham that more movement was in the pipeline, and a loan move for Ramsey would not just benefit the player in terms of reigniting his gametime, fitness and output.

If the playmaker is able to replicate the form he showcased in a previous Championship loan stint at Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick, it would certainly soften the blow of losing Bilal El Khannouss, who is bound for VfB Stuttgart after a reported £23.5m fee was agreed between the Championship and Bundesliga clubs.

Darren Witcoop has also stated that James is expected to snub interest from Wrexham and Ipswich Town and move to the King Power on loan, meaning he and Ramsey would add bundles of quality to an already stacked and dynamic creative department that includes the likes of Louis Page, Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu behind the likes of Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka.

Ramsey scored five times and posted a solitary assist during his time at the Riverside Stadium back in 2022/23. Whilst the quality in and around him doesn't necessarily guarantee a starting berth, his quality and composure on the ball would certainly aid the experienced centre-forward duo who are yet to get off the mark for the season, in turn also boosting Leicester's chances of promotion.
