According to Superdeporte, Luis de la Fuente has named his Spain squad for late September and early October, with Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martínez, currently starting for the club, receiving a first senior call-up at 28.

The Alzira-born keeper joins Unai Simón and David Raya in the goalkeeping pool, and will compete for a starting place.

There are further changes. Dean Huijsen, Fermín and Roberto Fernández come in, while Joan García misses out through injury, Marcos Llorente has retired from international duty, Borja Iglesias is injured, and Gavi is absent.

Spain play four Nations League group matches in an extended three-week window. They open at Wembley against England on Saturday 26 September, then host Croatia on 29 September at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. The run continues at the Carlos Tartiere against Czech Republic on Saturday 3 October, before another meeting with Croatia on Tuesday 6 October.

De la Fuente’s side are seen as among the favourites to lift the trophy, which they won in 2023. They overcame Portugal and Italy, then beat Croatia in the final on penalties. The winner will not be known until mid-2027.
