The club said in a statement that summer signing Eric Martel suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to his right knee in yesterday's friendly against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai. He could be sidelined indefinitely.
The summer arrival from 1.FC Köln was substituted abruptly during the match and taken to a local hospital in Kufstein, where initial imaging confirmed the diagnosis.

Martel will remain with the squad at their training camp in Hopfgarten and is set to travel back to Mainz with the team next Wednesday.
Mainz are speculating he will be unavailable for the next few weeks.
Recovery time depends on his individual healing process, with most cases taking from two weeks to three months.
