Matt Law was on the London is Blue podcast this week, speaking about Chelsea’s front of shirt sponsor – or their lack thereof.

The Blues have now gone into their third season without a sponsor, and all of the excuses they’ve made for why that’s the case have evaporated.

What’s worse, the current ownership’s disparaging of the efforts of the previous owners now looks embarassing.

“It’s mental. It’s mad. Either they’re asking for stupid money and they just need to get real,” Law said.

“It’s hard to accept any real justification: that they’ve been holding out for the best deal, that they’ve been holding out to get into the Champions League, that they didn’t want to sign a multi year deal while they weren’t in the Champions League. I get that, I get that, I get that. I get that at the start of the season they thought ‘we’re confident we’re going to get a long term one now.’, but where is it guys?

“They’ve made some pretty bold statements in the past about the way the club was being run in the past, but it’s embarrassing to not have a front of shirt sponsor. Perhaps they’re waiting for the charges from the Premier League to actually drop and the punishment be known? No one at the club will actually confirm that to me.”
