L’Équipe understands that Canada international Theo Bair (24) is set to join newly-promoted AJ Auxerre from Scottish Premier League side Motherwell.
Auxerre have returned to Ligue 1 at the first time of asking and are already looking to strengthen their squad, however, with the TV broadcasting rights situation, which has been resolved as of Sunday, they have had to be intelligent in their recruitment. Auxerre have already signed Gabriel Osho (25), whose contract at EFL Championship side Luton Town expired, on a free transfer.
They now look set to spend €1.3m (without bonuses) on Motherwell forward Bair. The striker, who competed for Canada at the recently concluded Copa América, arrived at Motherwell from St Johnstone last summer and scored 15 goals in 41 matches last season. However, after just one year, he now looks set to depart and make the move to France, where he will have the task of helping Auxerre remain in Ligue 1.
