“Not really my style…”: Bayern newcomer Saibari isn’t a fan of lederhosen | OneFootball

Every year at the start of a new season, FC Bayern holds its traditional photo shoot in lederhosen. It’s all organized by sponsor Paulaner. For some new players in particular, this can be a bit of a culture shock.

Nathaniel Brown, who joined the team from Frankfurt this summer, mentioned during the shoot that while he had worn lederhosen once before, he’s by no means an expert in this area.

Ismael Saibari also experienced this tradition for the first time. He, too, got to don the traditional Bavarian costume.

Saibari in lederhosen: Not exactly thrilled

Following the photo shoot, Saibari was asked in a brief interview if he liked the outfit. “It’s not really my style,” explained the newcomer, who came from PSV Eindhoven, but added, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

The Moroccan was then asked if he’d already shown friends or family a picture of himself in Lederhosen. “No, not yet—I haven’t had a chance to take any photos myself,” replied the Bayern attacking star. He added: “But I’ll do that soon.”

They also discussed the first title Saibari won with FC Bayern in the Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund. “It felt really good. Titles are always nice, and when you manage to win one in your very first game, it’s something special. It felt good to be on the field for the first time,” explained the new signing.

Now, he and Bayern will kick off their Bundesliga season on Friday against VfB Stuttgart. The record champions want to make a statement right away, and Saibari hopes he’ll be able to make an impact in his very first game. Whether he’s fit enough for the starting lineup will be decided over the course of the training week.
