Official | Auxerre sign Southampton striker Cameron Archer

Auxerre have secured a Deadline Day loan move for Southampton FC striker Cameron Archer (24), both clubs have announced. The former England U21 international is set for a reunion with former Saints manager Will Still, now in charge of Auxerre. Archer completed a medical on Tuesday as the Yonne side initially pulled the plug in talks with Torino to sign Zakaria Aboukhlal as both sides failed to reach an agreement.

Archer has loged 11 goals in 77 appearances for Southampton since joining from Aston Villa two years ago. The striker has not featured in any of this season’s EFL Championship matches. Auxerre looked short of firepower after parting ways with Lassine Sinayoko, who joined Ligue 1 rivals Paris FC. He’ll wear the No. 9 jersey for the Ligue 1 side. Archer’s loan move to Auxerre doesn’t include an option to buy.
