Vasco are likely to rest some regulars for Tuesday’s Copa Sul-Americana second leg against Independiente Santa Fe at São Januário, after a 0-0 first game in Colombia.
According to Globo.com, Pedro Emanuel, the Portuguese manager, has rotated since taking charge, with staff managing minutes as Vasco juggle a Brasileirão relegation fight and ambitions in the Copa do Brasil and the Sul-Americana.
With two home matches in a row at São Januário, Coritiba visit on Saturday, Tuesday’s line-up is expected to feature more first-choice players than the largely reserve side used last week.
Probable Vasco XI: Léo Jardim; Puma Rodríguez, Cuesta (Saldivia), Lucas Freitas, Lucas Piton; Barros, Ramon Rique, Thiago Mendes (Rojas); Marino, Bruno Duarte (Spinelli), Nuno Moreira.
Players with heavier recent workloads will undergo fitness tests only hours before kick-off. If those checks show they are near their limit, they will be rested.
After the goalless first leg, any home win will take Vasco into the semi-finals. Another draw would send the tie to penalties.
