Rennes thrashed Nice 4-0 on Sunday to make it four Ligue 1 wins in a row and climb from seventh to fifth.

Estéban Lepaul opened the scoring in the 13th minute, turning in Valentin Rongier's pass. Sebastian Szymański then swept in from the centre of the box (20.) after a Mousa Al-Taamari break.

A penalty followed when Al-Taamari was fouled, but Lepaul dragged the spot kick wide (36.). Moments later, an Al-Taamari finish was overturned by VAR.

After a flurry of substitutions, the visitors' bench delivered. Ludovic Blas guided in from Breel Embolo's lay-off (74.). Nordan Mukiele then arrowed a low shot into the bottom right in the second minute of second half stoppage time, again from Rongier.

Brice Samba preserved the clean sheet with smart stops from Mohamed Ali Cho before the interval and Antoine Mendy late on.

Les Aiglons mustered 14 attempts, with just two on target. Rennes registered 12 attempts and hit the target six times. The visitors also saw 59.8% of the ball. Lepaul now has 13 league goals, third in the Ligue 1 scoring chart.

Next, Les Aiglons visit Angers. Rennes host Lille.
