Robinio Vaz could leave Marseille as contract talks stall and sale tempts

According to L'Équipe, Robinio Vaz could leave Marseille this winter if a sizeable offer arrives, with swift talks over a new deal having stalled.

Marseille opened negotiations in October for a two-year extension, then halted them after about two months as the parties were far apart. The club offered a sixfold pay rise, while Vaz initially wanted more. He earns about €10,000 gross a month, compared with Darryl Bakola on €35,000.

With a contract running to 2028, the club did not view the matter as urgent. Marseille have also shown a firm stance in similar cases, such as with Valentin Rongier in the spring.

Roberto De Zerbi said selection hinges on form, not contract issues, and that players must show hunger to play. Vaz stayed on the bench in Sunday’s 0-2 loss to Nantes. He has 19 appearances this season, 3 starts.

There is a suggestion internally that a sale could be weighed to capitalise on his value and finally bank a strong profit. Vaz initially wanted to keep progressing at Marseille. He has not been officially listed, but a €25-30 million price has been floated.

Aston Villa and Eintracht Frankfurt have expressed interest, though there have been no concrete talks with Marseille so far.
