According to L'Équipe, the centre-back joined from Olympique de Marseille in summer 2024 and persistent injuries blighted his stint in Italy.

He underwent ankle surgery early last season after several setbacks, then returned to full fitness this summer. Gennaro Gattuso, his former Marseille coach, was pleased to have him through pre-season.

Even so, Lazio opted to reduce their wage bill and he was among the higher earners steered towards the exit.

Now a free agent at 32, Gigot has interest from Qatar, Türkiye and Ligue 1.
