According to Coluna Do Fla, Lucas Paquetá and Samuel Lino have welcomed Gonzalo Plata’s unexpected return to Flamengo after the forward failed a medical with Dynamo Moscow.

Speaking in the mixed zone after Flamengo’s 2-0 win over Mirassol, Paquetá said the dressing room were pleased to have him back and felt the Ecuadorian can contribute in the run-in to the 2026 season.

Asked with a lighter tone, Lino admitted he had not yet spoken to Plata but said the squad would receive him with open arms, noting he is well liked and can help in the final stretch.

Plata had travelled to Russia to sign for Dynamo Moscow, but the deal stalled after he did not pass medical tests. Flamengo consider his reintegration certain, and the player returns to Brazil later this week.

He will not be involved against Remo in the Brasileirão this Sunday, with kick-off at 16:00 Brasília time at Estádio Mangueirão. The club have not ruled out calling on him in the Libertadores against Independiente del Valle, a decision that depends on medical assessment.

Before the Russia trip, Plata was a starter under Leonardo Jardim. During the negotiations Flamengo added Anthony Valencia and Joaquín Freitas in his position, leaving the Portuguese coach with another attacking option to balance.
