Santos could have three players back for Sunday’s Campeonato Brasileiro trip to Internacional, with Gabriel Menino, Gustavo Henrique and Pepê Fermino training fully on Friday and emerging as options for Cuca. Diario Do Peixe reports the trio had been sidelined with separate issues.
Morning work included physical and tactical drills. The trio are in the final stage of recovery.
Gabriel Menino has been out the longest among regulars after a left-knee sprain against Macará-EQU in the Copa Sudamericana last 16, ruling him out of the past six matches.
Gustavo Henrique had pain in his left thigh. He was substituted during the league win over Corinthians last Sunday and then missed the Copa do Brasil tie with Palmeiras.
Pepê Fermino has been out since July with a right-thigh injury from a friendly against União São João after the season pause. At 19, he is seen by Cuca as a prospect who could get chances this year.
Even with potential returns, Santos will be without Lucas Veríssimo and Barreal through suspension. Both also left Wednesday’s draw with Palmeiras hurt, the defender had left-ankle pain and the forward a left-thigh issue.
Neymar is a doubt for the trip, having come off against Palmeiras with pain in his right thigh. He will undergo tests to determine the extent.
Kick-off is 16:00 on Sunday at Beira-Rio in the 26th round. Santos are 14th on 29 points, Internacional 18th with 25. Mirassol, first above the drop zone, also have 25.
