Santos paid their players' overdue wages from last month on Wednesday, hours before a decisive Copa do Brasil tie at Coritiba. According to Globo.com, the tie, in the competition's fifth phase, kicks off at 19:30 Brasília time at Couto Pereira after a 0-0 first leg at Vila Belmiro.
The club still owes two months of image rights to the squad, with no set date for payment amid monthly cash pressures. The tie decides a place in the last 16.
The club did not comment when contacted.
It is not the first time this year that Santos have faced cash flow issues and fallen behind on payments. Last month, squad leaders met the board in Ecuador before the Sudamericana match against Deportivo Cuenca to discuss the situation.
One overdue month was settled the following day, hours before that game, but the debt later returned to two instalments.
Santos carry debt of approximately R$ one billion, with 2025 accounts showing total liabilities of R$ 998.5 million. Of this, more than R$ 470 million is short-term, due within 12 months, while medium and long-term obligations, beyond one year, total R$ 761 million.
