Santos sell Adonis Frías to Atlas in $3.7m deal, keep 20% sell-on | OneFootball

Santos have sold defender Adonis Frías, 28, to Atlas in Mexico for $3.7m (R$ 19.5m). According to Globo.com, the club will retain 20% of any future sale.

The deal followed a late change of course after Frías had been close to joining Racing of Argentina on loan in a swap that would have brought right-back Gastón Martirena to Santos.

Atlas intervened with a higher salary and a permanent offer, which appealed to both player and club. Frías has previously played in the country for León.

His move to Atlas ended Santos' pursuit of Martirena, who for now remains at Racing.

With no reinforcements agreed, the board also postponed paying to lift a transfer ban linked to a debt owed to Monaco in France.

Santos are in talks for midfielder Lima, who is contracted to Fluminense, but they cannot register new players until a R$ 12 million liability is settled.
