Sergio Postigo has criticised Eray Cömert after the Valencia defender’s post-derby celebration intensified tempers. A bottle was later thrown at Cömert.
Cömert grabbed a Levante corner flag, draped his shirt on it and moved towards Valencia supporters, further inflaming the home crowd. According to Superdeporte, he was then struck by a bottle launched from the Tribuna area, an unjustifiable act by a Levante fan.
Dela voiced Levante’s anger and urged respect between professionals. Later in the mixed zone, head coach Carlos Corberán and Valencia captain César Tárrega apologised for the Swiss centre-back’s conduct.
Backlash towards Cömert has continued, notably from former Levante captain Postigo, now at CD Mirandés, who posted on Instagram. He argued that taking part in one of the worst periods in Valencia’s history and still choosing such a celebration shows little regard for the club’s situation.
During the second half, Levante fans chanted “Peter, quédate”, a pointed reference to majority shareholder Peter Lim, under whom Valencia have gone from Champions League participation to battling relegation. Postigo’s message quickly spread across both fanbases, drawing a flood of comments.
