Petar Ratkov is moving closer to Sevilla FC, with his openness to the move viewed as a key factor as talks proceed late in the window.
La Repubblica reports that Sevilla FC and SS Lazio are discussing a loan with an option to buy, and that Ratkov is very keen on joining in Nervión.
The Serbian forward is among the leading options to bolster Luis García Plaza’s attack. He has given his approval to a switch and dialogue between the clubs is active.
Ratkov joined SS Lazio in January from RB Salzburg. He featured in nine matches without scoring, and the Italian club are now exploring solutions for his future.
García Plaza wants a third out-and-out striker, particularly if he uses two up front. Isaac Romero and Robbie Ure are his only natural options, and after the win over Athletic Club he underlined the need for another piece.
A loan would fit Sevilla FC’s financial reality, with incomings tied to exits. The sale of Rubén Vargas to Olympiacos could accelerate movement on this front.
That scenario might hasten Ratkov’s arrival or free scope to pursue a more ambitious profile. Even so, Ratkov’s candidacy is strengthening, while any deal still depends on Sevilla FC and SS Lazio agreeing a satisfactory formula.
