Southampton pair Ben Brereton Diaz and Gavin Bazunu are set to depart for fellow Championship clubs. According to Daily Echo, Brereton Diaz is expected to return to Sheffield United on loan, while Bazunu will join newly promoted Bolton Wanderers permanently.

Brereton Diaz featured regularly in pre-season and started the 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Colchester United. He later came off the bench in the 2-1 league defeat to Watford, then dropped out of the matchday picture.

The Chile international joined Saints from Villareal in 2024 and has struggled to make a mark, recording no goals or assists in 17 appearances.

He spent last season on loan at Derby County, who were understood to be in the mix to bring him back. Instead, he is now set for what would be a third loan stint at Sheffield United.

Bazunu has been out of Tonda Eckert's plans since the start of pre-season. Alongside fellow goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, he was not involved in any of Saints' pre-season friendlies.

The 24 year old arrived from Manchester City in 2022 and is into the final year of his St Mary's contract. He has made 97 appearances for the club, having previously had loan spells at Standard Liege and Stoke City.
