Steve Bizasène will not be on the touchline when Le Gosier (R1) face Lorient in the Coupe de France 32es de finale on Saturday at 15:30, as he is suspended until the end of the season.

According to L'Équipe, the 55-year-old has been banned for several weeks and will remain sidelined over alleged threats and insulting remarks towards a referee during the local championship, which his team currently lead. He and assistant Cédric Celigny strongly contest the allegations.

Both are barred from the dressing rooms before the match and will watch from the stands at Stade Robert-Bobin de Bondoufle. The club views the situation as frustrating and hard to understand as it prepares for the biggest game in its history.

The report said they intend to file a defamation complaint against the referee on their return. They have appealed the sporting sanction, and the commission has yet to deliver its decision.

In Bizasène’s absence, former player Vidian Valérius, who holds the necessary coaching qualifications, is taking interim charge.
