The one-cap England goalkeeper spent the past two seasons with the Magpies as back-up, serving as third-choice and not making a competitive appearance. Eddie Howe praised his influence in the dressing room.

His exit comes eight years after he played a major part in Wolves' Championship title-winning campaign in 2017/2018, having arrived from Norwich where he had previously won the Championship play-offs.

He featured in all but one league game as Nuno's side won the title. In April 2018 he saved an injury-time penalty at Cardiff to send Wolves nine points clear.

He was named in the PFA Team of the Year and won the EFL Golden Glove for 24 clean sheets.
