Vasco fail to register Sosa and Colidio, pair to miss Olimpia first leg | OneFootball

Vasco have failed to register Santiago Sosa and Facundo Colidio in time for the Copa Sudamericana, so neither will face Olimpia on Thursday at São Januário in the round of 16 first leg.

According to Globo.com, the AFA did not send their documentation before Conmebol’s registration deadline on Monday.

Sosa arrived in Rio de Janeiro in the early hours of Monday and is completing the final steps before being officially unveiled by Vasco. Colidio has been in the city since Friday after the club announced a pre-agreement.

Sosa has been signed from Racing to strengthen the midfield, while Colidio arrives from River Plate as an attacking option who can play wide or centrally.

Vasco had hoped to use the pair immediately in the knockout phase, but head coach Pedro Emanuel will pick from the existing squad for Olimpia. The duo will be registered later and, if Vasco progress, be available for the quarter-finals.
