Wrexham signed Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri for £1million on winter deadline day and have outlined a patient plan for his integration.

The 20-year-old Jamaica international, son of former Everton striker Danny Cadamarteri, agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract after scoring seven in 57 appearances for Wednesday, with Blackburn Rovers and Millwall also interested.

"He's a little bit of a contradiction, Bailey. He's a young player with great potential who could contribute to the club straight away. We decided the investment was worth making now because we feel he's one of the players whose value could significantly increase whilst he's with us."

He was speaking on the Fearless in Devotion podcast.

"He'll probably play a far bigger part next season than now, notwithstanding the fact that I don't think anybody's got any doubts in his ability. Everybody's got every bit of confidence in him, but the pressure's off him."

"He doesn't have to deliver straight away. He's not coming in with that big tag like strikers that we've signed in the past, where we need them to deliver from day one, otherwise our season's going nowhere. He ultimately could take the time to work with the staff and actually will be a massive player for Wrexham for many, many years to come."

Cadamarteri's final Wednesday appearance came two days before the move, a 1-0 defeat to Wrexham.
