Leeds United’s clear-out has continued this week and talk of Lukas Nmecha leaving is splitting the fanbase.
The Mail reports that Wrexham are eyeing a move for the Germany international striker.
Nmecha joined on a free from Wolfsburg last summer and signed a two-year deal, so he is in the final year. He scored seven goals in 37 appearances, averaging a goal every 209 minutes.
This week Sebastiaan Bornauw and Joel Piroe left on loan with obligations included. Bornauw’s clause appears straightforward and may hinge on Hamburg avoiding the drop, while Piroe’s would trigger if West Ham are promoted this season.
They follow Pascal Struijk, Joe Gelhardt, Isaac Schmidt, Jack Harrison, Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier out of Elland Road. Lucas Perri is expected to join Torino, and Nico Elvedi has been confirmed as the fourth summer signing as Leeds look to add before the deadline.
With Piroe gone, sanctioning a sale of Nmecha appears unlikely, even if any fee would be pure profit. Supporters are divided, some urging Leeds to keep him to avoid being left with one striker, others arguing that a sale could fund a new forward.
With the Premier League season starting in two days, any decision seems to depend on a replacement arriving.
