The DNCG has imposed wage-bill controls on Monaco on Tuesday, placing the club under close oversight for the coming season.
UEFA said last week that Monaco had met the final target of its settlement agreement. The club complied with the football earnings rule for 2025-2026, covering reporting periods ending in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and left the settlement regime.
That followed a stringent policy, with more than €140m of sales since last summer and less than €15m of spending.
Unlike UEFA's retrospective checks, the French watchdog assesses forward-looking budgets. The decision was expected amid plunging domestic TV rights and failure to qualify for the Champions League.
A €60m shortfall has been cited and further sales will be needed to stay within limits. Big assets such as Folarin Balogun and Maghnes Akliouche are in focus, while a deal with Ajax for Caio Henrique stands at €10m plus €3m in potential bonuses and a 25% sell-on. The player has yet to reach agreement with the Dutch club.
