Ibrahima Baldé’s resurgence at Rodez gathered pace with a hat-trick in the 5-2 win at Nantes last Saturday.

According to L'Équipe, the 23-year-old is starting his third season at Rodez after a year out at Lens with a hip injury. Sporting director Grégory Ursule moved for him in 2024 and backed his recovery.

It has paid off, Baldé scored seven in his first season and 12 last term. He also hit three across the final two matchdays in May.

He has four already this season. He called it a dream start but stressed he must earn trust every week in training and matches.

He praised Rodez as a family club with benevolent people, little pressure and loyal fans. He considers it among the best places to relaunch from almost zero.

Rodez have a habit of reviving forwards, such as Andreas Hountondji, Killian Corredor and Timothé Nkada. Ursule said players feel trusted and that Baldé fits that model.

With four days left in the window, Ursule suspects Baldé has attracted attention. The club and coach Didier Santini are in no rush.

Baldé said he remains a Rodez player, while keeping the ambition to play, for example, Ligue 1 one day. Rodez host Pau on Friday at 20:00 in Ligue 2.
