Lille forward Ethan Mbappé to be out of action for three weeks following ankle injury | OneFootball

LOSC Lille’s Ethan Mbappé (19) could be forced to sit out for three weeks after sustaining an injury to his right ankle, according to reports in L’Équipe.

Called up to the France Under-21s squad for the September international break, Mbappé was forced off as early as the 12th minute of Tuesday’s match against Estonia (2-0) following a tackle by an opponent. It was an injury about which Gérald Baticle, his manager, had said he was “concerned” in his post-match comments.

If his recovery period is confirmed as three weeks, Mbappé would certainly miss the Ligue 1 matches against Le Havre on 10th October and Stade Brestois 29 the following week. Having made six appearances (five as a starter) under Davide Ancelotti this season, the Montreuil-born player has proved decisive on two occasions (one goal, one assist).

Suspended for three Champions League matches following the red card he received against Real Betis, Mbappé would in any case have missed the big games against Arsenal and Galatasaray.
