Earlier today, reports surfaced suggesting that AC Milan were preparing a strong attempt to lure Robert Lewandowski away from Barcelona in a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku.
The rumour quickly gained traction, hinting at a major twist in the transfer narrative surrounding the Polish striker.
However, Mundo Deportivo has now clarified that sources close to Lewandowski categorically dismiss any chance of negotiations taking place between the clubs over such an exchange.
The timing of the speculation is significant, as Barcelona are already deep into the process of shaping next season’s squad.
The club has several strategic decisions to make, and one of the most sensitive concerns the future of the number ‘9’ position.
In that regard, Deco and the sporting department must decide whether Lewandowski’s contract, which expires at the end of the season, should be extended or allowed to run out.
Letting him leave would free up a major salary slot, offering financial flexibility as Barça rebuild.

From Milan’s perspective, the idea of a swap gained momentum partly because Lewandowski appears to be losing his previously unquestioned status within the team.
Ferran Torres’ rise under Hansi Flick has shifted the dynamic at the top of Barcelona’s attack, prompting some observers to interpret this as an opening for the Italian club to make a move.
This shift, combined with Barcelona’s long-term planning, created fertile ground for speculation, even if it now seems to be unfounded.
The reported involvement of Nkunku added further drama, temporarily placing the hypothetical deal at the centre of transfer discussions.
But the stance from the player’s inner circle could not be clearer – no talks, no negotiations, and no swap on the horizon.
Barcelona still face crucial decisions regarding their attacking structure, and Lewandowski’s future remains one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle.
For now, though, the club can at least cross one distraction off the list, as the Nkunku swap rumour does not appear to hold any truth.
